Te Kotuku Ki Te Rangi- A Journey of Care

Te Kotuku Ki Te Rangi was established to meet a need identified by the founders for culturally appropriate treatment practices for people of Maori descent suffering from a Mental Health disability. Although targeted at Maori, anybody of any cultural or ethnic background may choose to enter. They were one of the first Maori residential mental health providers.  The organisation was established in collaboration with Tangiwairua Hieatt using a Kaupapa Maori model of care and became an incorporated society in 1991.  In February of 1992 operations were established in Rosebank and in 2001 Te Kotuku Ki Te Rangi became a charitable trust.
