Michelle is the Owner and Managing Director of George Walkers, the iconic New Zealand Auction House which has been in operation for over 104 years. Michelle purchased the company 10 years ago and transformed it from a loss business, facing liquidation, into the thriving business it is today which specializes in the purchase, sale and lease of quality, office, furniture. A niche in which the company is totally dominant, is the segment comprising of Corporate companies that are either downsizing, re-locating or re-furbishing. Michelle is extremely qualified in her chosen field and has achieved:
Executive Member of Licensed Auctioneers NZ Inc., Associate Membership of Auctioneers & Appraisers (SA) Inc., Certification from the Real Estate Auction Academy of West Australia, Certified Performance Consultant and has been appointed a Result Acceleration Master Coach.
George Walkers was nominated in the Westpac Auckland West Business Awards for the categories of Best Owner Manager, Best Small Business and Peoples’ Choice, receiving a Distinction Award in the Best Small Business category

Michelle’s Business Philosophy is about approaching your endeavours with a core belief of having fun, coupled with an absolute intention of being the best you can be, sprinkled with calculated risk and humility. People skills are a must for Michelle, who states that you must be open to learn from others, ask lots of quality questions and listen. Personal
Michelle has established George Walkers as a family business. Her daughter Serena works in the business along with Michelle’s mother, Christine. Her other daughter Melanie serves with the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
Michelle feels it is an absolute joy having a family business … she gets to hang out with the people she loves the most and all of our customers become part of our community as they walk through the door.
Michelle has just discovered the joys of fishing as well as rugby proudly supporting Wales as her birthplace as well as The All Blacks.
