For close to 20 years Mike Gibson (RBA co-founder and Chief Executive) has played a pivotal role in establishing and turning the RBA into what it is now recognised as within the Auckland and more importantly the West Auckland Business Community today.
Throughout his tenure, Mike has planned and developed many successful initiatives designed to enhance and support the Rosebank Business Community. With a background in general management and marketing, as CEO, Mike continually strives to keep the issues of the RBA at the forefront with Auckland Council and West Auckland business communities. This has been established on an RBA brand that has steadfastly delivered mechanisms that drive business development by being STRONGER TOGETHER.
As such, the RBA is well regarded by Auckland Council to be the “model” BID for commercial and industrial business precincts.
In more recent times via helping establish the Central Park Business Association in 2014, Mike has been deeply committed to an endeavour to build a stronger collective West Auckland business platform and voice that may inspire the establishment of a West Auckland Corridor of Commerce in the future.
He is a committed family man, Golfer (Team manager of the successful GT Radial Muriwai Golf Club’s Nobilo and Rangitoto Senior pennant team that during his 9-year tenure won many successive championships. By being the NZWCGC licensee he has taken NZ Corporate teams to South Africa, Scotland, Spain and Portugal.
His overriding passion is now Thoroughbred Racing initiated by being part of the successful 2010 New Zealand Cup Showcause winning Syndicate, and in November 2016 at Riccarton Park another of his shared syndicate horses La Diosa won for him his first GR 1 (the NZ 1000 Guineas).
As he considers retirement, the setting up of Emerald Glen Bloodstock Ltd in Australia will facilitate both Racing and Breeding activities and will certainly keep him well occupied.
